Nightfall downloadable?
hey everyone,
I bought nightfall, and I already had prophecies. When I came home I found out nightfall is on a DVD rom, and I dont have a DVD player so I can't install from the DVD. Can I download the client somewhere, because I can't be arsed waiting 10-30 min to download the area everytime I enter a New one. Any advice, links is appreciated. thanks! |

Once you add your new activation key (Nightfall) to your account, you will download any files you don't already have downloaded at that time.
It may take awhile, but you don't need the DVD at all. You already have the client installed, just will need the updated files for the areas in Nightfall. |

As far as I know, you should be able to add the key to your account without having to even install the game. I added nightfall to my account through the online store, therefore I don't even have a CD/DVD or the manual...8(
If you want to download new content before playing, I think you can run the shortcut with the -image switch. |

Step 1: Copy and paste your GW icon on your desktop.
Step 2: Right-click on the "Copy of Guild Wars" icon and select "Properties". Step 3: Go into the "Shortcut" tab. Step 4: In the box that has something like "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" in it, add -image outside of the double inverted commas. Step 5: Launch the game with this icon, it will download all of the game files, decompress them and then exit. Step 6: Launch the game using the normal icon. Step 7: Have fun! |

I believe everytime you connect to the guildwars servers, you are already downloading all the content. It just decompresses the files necessary when you enter a new zone. I never even took the discs out of the case and I'm playing prophecies, factions and nightfall.
You could do the -image thing and that will decompress all of the files. Just leave it on overnight or for an hour or two when you're away from the computer. I'll try to find the thread about the switches. Edit: Well, you can forget about the link as Artemis listed the instructions and I need to learn to type faster. |

I got a new comp just before NF, and I did the '-image' thing, and left it on over night. As soon as I got the key, I didn't even put the disk in, I just entered the NF key. I have had only tiny file loads, and all cines have played. Cantha and Tyria are fully there too.
